There are a number of wonderful ways to beat the summer heat. This weekend we stayed cool beside an alpine lake where there was plenty of time for campfires, swimming and fishing. Followed by showers back home and an ice cream in town, it was a full time endeavor staying cool. Given a forecast of high nineties for the remainder of the week, I expect there will be more ice cream to be eaten and swimming to be done.

Spring is all around. On Saturday, Willow brought up the birds and the bees: "So, I'm confused. I just don't understand how I'll get a baby in 'there' when I want to be a mommy? I mean, how does it get IN there?" Luckily, she was on to the next thing before her momma was able to catch her breath.

Lizards and Goslings
Much to her parents' amusement, Willow caught her first lizard ever during a walk along the river today. As if that wasn't just the most amazing thing for an almost four-year old to experience in a single day, we then sat and watched a brood of fuzzy little goslings a short while later. Top it all off with garlic fries and a grilled cheese sandwich at the Billy Goat and you have an unforgettable Sunday.

Despite the look on Willow's face, she really does love quesadillas. In fact, she will choose them over just about any other meal (the exception being pasta). Can't wait to take her to Mexico some day.
